How our data works
Sources
- NMLS Consumer Access for company identity and NMLS IDs.
- Lender ranking export (compiled Apr 17, 2026) for headquarters. Company types from this export are marked unverified until reviewed. Volume figures are not shown until our data license is confirmed.
- Job postings and company websites researched by our team, each fact with its source link and the date it was posted or, if undated, the date we captured it.
- Employers who claim and correct their profile.
Verification status
- Public source: from a public page, not confirmed by the employer.
- Employer-verified: confirmed by a verified employer account.
- Under review: disputed by the employer; the original stays visible with the note.
Comp transparency score
Each company gets a score from 0 to 3: 3 when it has an employer-verified numeric pay fact or numeric facts for two or more roles; 2 when it has at least one numeric pay fact from the last 12 months; 1 when only qualitative or older comp information exists; 0 when nothing is on file. "Best match" and "Most transparent comp" use this score. Payment is never an input.
Hiring states
"Hiring in" lists states where we have seen the company post jobs. It is not a list of licensed states, which will come from NMLS.
Analytics and counting
- We count searches, result impressions, profile views and clicks with our own first-party analytics.
- An impression counts only when at least half of a result card is on screen for at least one second (the IAB display standard), once per search.
- Organic and Sponsored numbers are always reported separately and never added together.
- Automated traffic (known crawlers, browser automation, abnormal rates) is flagged and excluded from all reports.
- Some browsers and ad blockers stop analytics requests, so counts may be 5 to 15% low.
- Unique-visitor numbers rely on an optional cookie and are approximate.
